Perhaps that'll be the first piece of a small series focused at some distant military conflict at some forgotten sand planet in some isolated star system, far-far away ..bla-bla..

Victory Songs , 3D & Compositing

This actually is the third (and last one) piece from a small series I started some time ago which represents battle between two opposing races : a mechanical one and an organic Ent -alike forest creatures.

In the first piece I tried to catch the actual ‘first encounter’ between these two opposing forces.
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=613377

The second one represented an end of the conflict when the mechanicals gained victory.
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=617945

And this one shows the second alternative end of the conflict in which the forest creatures’re victorious.

Modeled & rendered in 3ds max / mental ray,- textures, part of the post fx,matte painting & compositing and additional corrections made in Photoshop.

The March Of Decay

Several days ago I've finished a personal work called Wolds Collide which represented a battle between two opposing races : a mechanical one and an organic Ent -alike forest creatures.
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=121&t=613377

Anyway I decided to further develop this idea and make 2 more stills as each one represents one alternative ending of the conflict .
So this is the concept visual for the second still in which the mechanicals gained a total victory , devastating the land of the forest creatures.
Mechanical Plague Spreaders are poisoning the ground to prevent the remaining forest creatures to reproduce themselves while Moisture Drainers are collecting the last recourses.

A mechanical Harvester unit caught in a deadly battle with one of the guardians of the realm.

My idea here was to represent the first (and deadly) encounter between two different and opposing species : a mechanical self-reproducible race which invades habitats to harvest all the resources in presence and an Ent-like forest creatures protecting their land (cliché story , I know )

My initial idea for this one was to represent a battle between some big, luxurious passenger-ship and few small pirate’s steam-sloops , but as I spent some time working on the still , little by little the scene focus changed, putting the pirates in the center of the action .

Based on Edward Bennun’s concept .

Modeled & rendered in 3ds max / mental ray, textures and additional corrections in Photoshop.
